Despite rumors of a Green Lantern sequel put forth by the Hollywood Reporter, it is considered “a bit premature” and nothing short of rumors, by a spokesman of Warner Brothers. There are no plans to make a sequel as of now, since the $400 million dollar movie has only grossed $91 million to date. The disappointment in box office gross has not totally shelved the sequel, but it is looking less and less likely that we’ll see a sequel anytime soon. The one golden ray of hope is the toy line and heavy advertising that could offset some of the cost of making the film. At this point Warner Bros. has invested a lot of time and money into this franchise, which could help the sequel due to brand recognition. Hopefully this won’t be the Green Lantern’s last flight, and maybe Warner Brothers will learn from the initial failure of the film and use what worked in the future.
