Slashers and Daddy…It Must Be Comic Book Quickies!!!!!

Quickies by Shaun Daniels and Edited by Sharon Wong

Here’s two books coming out this Wednesday, February 29th 2012 that you should check out.

Hack/Slash issue 13

Written by Tim Seeley, Art by Emilio Laiso, Colors by Carlos Badilla, Letters by Crank!, Cover A by Tim Seeley & Allen Passalaqua, Cover B by Ben Templesmith and Published by Image Comics.

Everyone knows that curiosity killed the cat, and in Hack/Slash #13, it almost gets Cat Curio killed.  The cure for Slashers that the gang has been seeking for Samhain could come at a cost to the team of Hack/Slash.  Meanwhile, Cassie and Samhain break the golden rule of Slasher stories, and someone must always pays for breaking that golden rule.  Emilio Laiso turns in an amazingly rendered book, managing to capture emotion in the beautifully illustrated eyes of the characters.  Plus, check out the amazing Cover B turned in by Fright Channel favorite, Ben Templesmith.  Of course, this book has one thing over any other book being published by Gorillaconda.

Angel & Faith issue 7

Executive Produced by Joss Whedon, Script by Christos Gage, Art by Rebekah Isaacs, Colors by Dan Jackson, Letters by Richard Starkings and comiccraft’s Jimmy Betancourt, Cover A by Steve Morris, Cover B by Rebekah Isaacs & Dan Jackson and Published by Dark Horse Comics.

“But Daddy I Want a Vampire Now!!!!!”  Part two of “Daddy Issues” continues in issue 7 of Angel and Faith.  This book could easily be a thesis paper for a psych major as it delves into the complicated relationship of the characters of Angel & Faith.  Whether it be Angel’s twisted sire/father relationship with Drusilla, or Faith seeing a sober dear old dad, this book has some serious issues.  It ends on a twist you might see coming but nevertheless, it still hurts like a knife to the gut.  The only thing that would make this better is a venn diagram to illustrate the overlapping daddy issues.
