American Muscle, Part 1 Written by Steve Niles, Art by Kevin Mellon and Letters by Bill Tortolini

TriggerGirl 6, Part One Written by Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray, Art by Phil Noto and Letters by Bill Tortolini

Creator Owned Heroes, one part anthology series and one part comic book magazine, features two comic vignettes, American Muscle and TriggerGirl 6.  American Muscle, the first story, is set in a time when the world ended yet forgot to tell anyone so it continues to live on in a dystopian landscape.  The exact cause of this future is unknown but it is revealed to be biological in nature.  The book combines a couple of things writer Steve Niles knows best, horror and muscle cars, as a group of survivors traverse the country in muscle cars.  What the group is on the hunt for is a question so readers will have something to look forward to in issue 2.  The art is by Kevin Mellon and he draws the hell out of the action, the cars and the grotesque cliffhanger.

TriggerGirl 6 is from writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, and artist Phil Noto, who are part of the creative team responsible for Beautiful Killer and The New WestThe story revolves around political intrigue, assassination and a super high-tech, hot as hell female assassin.  Noto draws her like no other, and makes killing look fun and sexy.  Palmiotti and Gray are a solid writing team that knows how to plant a hook to snag a reader.  The book is also full of back matter with columns by the creators and an interview with comic book and graphic novel writer Neil Gaiman (American Gods, The Sandman).  Support creator-owned comics and buy Creator Owned Heroes!!
