There are three things you should be watching this weekend…TORCHWOOD!, TORCHWOOD!! and TORCHWOOD!!! (and of course, there is the fourth thing, Falling Skies). “Rendition“, episode two of Torchwood: Miracle Day, plays on Starz tonight (Friday, July 11) at 10pm and it’s must watch TV. This once British show has made the trip across the pond along with Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper, all thanks to Starz.
The premise is a phrase simple in delivery but infinite in its philosophic meaning: What if no one died, ever? Series creator and writer of the entire fourth season Russell T. Davies has done it again by striking gold with another brilliant idea. Imagine never dying, no matter how sick or how close to Death’s door you are, only to wallow and suffer for eternity. What kind of effect does that have on the population and birth rates? And who is behind this event? All of these concepts will be explored by Davies and the cast. We would be remiss to not mention all of the players of Torchwood like John Barroman (that sexy bitch) back as dashing captain Jack Harkness. Eve Myles reprises her role again as Gwen Cooper, now a mother, and her husband Rhys played by the ever-charming Kai Owens. New players include Bill Pullman as Oswald Danes, a convicted murderer/pedophile who is possibly at the center of what the media is dubbing ‘Miracle Day’, and Horror Haven favorite, Mekhi Phifer, and Alexa Havins, both playing C.I.A. analysts whom unwittingly become members of the Torchwood gang. So if you don’t have Starz then get it or go to a friend’s/neighbor’s/relative’s/stranger’s house and do whatever is necessary to watch it (of course, legal in nature) because you must watch this soon-to-be masterpiece Torchwood: Miracle Day.
