The beginning of the end started at midnight when the eighth and final movie of the Harry Potter series premiered in the US and Canada. For the international set, it was released in 12 foreign countries like Australia and France on Wednesday and Thursday, and has grossed an estimated $43.6 million in two days. It will be a celebratory end to a decade-long friendship with Harry, Ron and Hermione, and a beloved wizard world where us muggles will always be spellbound.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith and David Thewlis. Screenplay by Steve Kloves. Produced by David Barron, David Heyman and J.K. Rowling. Directed by David Yates.
The second installment of a two-part movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, completes the 784-page book and the series that finds Harry fighting He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Lord Voldemort, in the ultimate battle between good and evil. Filmed back-to-back with Part 1, the movie is being released on 11,000 screens at 4,375 locations and is forecasted to break records here and around the world. The one record it has just broken is in advance ticket sales as wizarding fans have purchased over $32 million worth of movie tickets (Horror Haven’s comic genius, Shaun D., witnessed one of thousands of sold-out midnight screenings as he saw HP fans lined up outside a theater late last night). Part 2 will surpass other 2011 summer sequel blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Transformers: Dark of the Moon and could easily be the highest grossing movie of the year. There are a lot of expectations for Potter and company with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 but fans will definitely be satisfied, and forever hold the books and movies in a special place in their hearts. But the real question is, will it be enough to satisfy J.K. Rowling or will she put pen to paper again?
Synopsis: In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe.
