Illusions, Dinosaurs Punching & Hoaxes…It Must be Comic Book Quickies

Quickies by Shaun Daniels and Edited by Sharon Wong

Smoke and Mirrors issue 1 of 5

Written by Mike Costa, Art by Ryan Browne, Illusions by Jon Armstrong, Letters by Robbie Robbins, Color Assists by Aaron Daly and Published by IDW.

Imagine if your iPod, or the bus you take everyday, was powered by magic.  Smoke and Mirrors is just that; a world where magic takes the place of science and makes the world go round.  The story follows a stage magician, who must use the techniques of sleight of hand and illusions in order to survive.  This magic of a book is brought to you by writer Mike Costa (G.I. Joe: Cobra) with art by Ryan Browne (God Hates Astronauts) and Jon Armstrong (a lecturer & Disney consultant), who is considered by most to be the best sleight of hand magician.

Hack/Slash issue 14

Written by Tim Seeley, Art by Daniel Leister, Colors by Carlos Badilla, Letters by Crank!, Cover A by Tim Seeley & Allen Passalaqua and Cover B by Shane White and Published by Image Comics.

If there is one thing comic books are lacking these days, it’s dinosaurs being punched in the head.  Fear not, Hack/Slash will fill that dinosaur-shaped hole in your life with issue 14.  Samhain’s cure may have come too soon as he finds himself making a tough choice: his/Cassie’s life, or his humanity.  Meanwhile, Kat makes nice with Gorillaconda and Cassie finds herself the hunted, as opposed to the hunter!

Hoax Hunters issue 0

Written by Michael Moreci & Steve Seeley, Art by JM Ringuet, Cover by Steve Seeley and Published by Image Comics.

If you missed Hoax Hunters when it appeared as a two-page backup in the issues of Hack/Slash then fret no more as Image has collected the initial story in Hoax Hunters issue 0.  Jump aboard and get caught up as the first issue of the series will be coming out hot on the heels of this issue.  Set in a world where aliens & monsters exist, Hoax Hunters are there to cover up the truth.  The team covers this one up through a reality show that “debunks” the things that go bump in the night.  Issue 0 brings the Hoax Hunter face to face with a haunted Russian cosmonaut suit.
