For the Easter weekend of 4.22-4.24.2011:

It was all about colorful birds (#1 Rio), a big, ugly but funny woman (#2 Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family) and Robert Pattinson (#3 Water for Elephants) for the egg-hunting weekend.

Scream 4 quickly slid down to the #5 spot in its second weekend with a total gross of $31.158 million. These numbers are surely making the accountants at Weinstein Company/Dimension scream like Drew Barrymore’s Casey!

In its fourth weekend, Insidious remains in the top 10 at #8 with $5.384 million. With only a $1.5 million budget, the total gross of $44.178 million is all about the black.

The new IFC film, Stake Land, broke into the box office with a very respectable $6.9k at only one theater. Can you just imagine the numbers if it was released at 1000+ theaters?

Check out the Box Office on Friday for this week’s new movie releases…will it be the second chance Brandon Routh is seeking in a starring role ever since the 2006 Superman Returns?
